Mods (continued)<\/h3>\n<p><a name=\"section_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The primary additional capability available today is <strong>juice feeding<\/strong>: <em>side<\/em>, <em>bottom<\/em>, or <em>AVS <\/em>(between the mod and the atty). All but AVS are box mods containing a bottle of e-liquid (and the battery, of course). A juice-fed mod replaces the need for cartridges and cartomizers, as well as dripping or dipping. Necessarily, they are larger (usually wider rather than longer) than mods using the same battery.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The earliest juice-fed hobbyist mods were <strong>side feeders<\/strong>. Both use a 14500 battery and a 3-ml bottle&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Reo-Mini-and-UMP.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1104\" title=\"Reo Mini and UMP\" src=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Reo-Mini-and-UMP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"442\" height=\"321\" srcset=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Reo-Mini-and-UMP.jpg 736w, http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Reo-Mini-and-UMP-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 442px) 100vw, 442px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">&#8230;as does the similar looking\u00a0\u00a365 <a href=\"http:\/\/genesis.me.uk\/integrity.html\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Integrity<\/em><\/a> (which also can accommodate an 18650 battery) from UK-based Dave&#8217;s Devices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Integrity\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ecigarette-mods.com\/images\/mods\/integrity.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"322\" height=\"146\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The $80 GG <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vaporkings.com\/GG-AVS-tank-with-plastic-mouthpiece-p\/gg-avs-tank-only.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>AVS<\/strong><\/a> (Automatic <em>Vaping <\/em>System) is a 6 ml liquid tank, which attaches to the top of the $159 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vaporkings.com\/NEW-GG-Telescopic-Storm-with-brass-telescope-p\/gg-telescopic.htm\" target=\"_blank\">GG Telescopic Storm<\/a> shown here. The atomizer sits inside that liquid tank surrounded by e-liquid, which is automatically pulled up into the atty as you vape. [NOTE: The GG AFS (Automatic <em>Feeding <\/em>System) V2 for use with <em>other <\/em>tubular mods no longer seems to be available.] FYI: GG mods and parts often are out of stock and can be finicky in performance. My perception of Imeo&#8217;s GGs is that they are the <em>Jaguars<\/em> of PVs: outstanding in concept and luxury, but often in the shop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/GG-AVS-on-Telescopic-Storm1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1116\" title=\"GG AVS on Telescopic Storm\" src=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/GG-AVS-on-Telescopic-Storm1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"141\" height=\"510\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a name=\"section_2\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Most of the previous parameters (and the final one \ud83d\ude09 ) are fairly obvious considerations. This one may not be, but don&#8217;t ignore it. If you are considering a mod, think  about both the <em>position <\/em>and <em>feel <\/em>of the manual switch button:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Position<\/strong>: Visualize how you would <em> hold <\/em>the device \u2026 and what <em>finger <\/em>you would use to press the button.  This certainly would be different for the devices with the button on the  side of the mod near the atomizer &#8230; vs. on the side near the base &#8230; vs. <em>at <\/em>the base &#8230; vs. at the top. There is no right or wrong to this, but a matter of  personal preference and comfort. [I&#8217;m a thumb man myself, pressing that button on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=231263&amp;amp;u=467811&amp;amp;m=27313&amp;amp;urllink=&amp;amp;afftrack=\" target=\"_blank\">ProVape-1<\/a>, while holding the mod with three fingers on the other side and my pinky on the same side as the button.]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/mod-switch-positions.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1121\" title=\"mod switch positions\" src=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/mod-switch-positions.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"395\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/mod-switch-positions.jpg 658w, http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/mod-switch-positions-300x294.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 395px) 100vw, 395px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">And some mods don&#8217;t even have button that you press. For example, the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/atmosusa.biz\/?affid=6\" target=\"_blank\">Copper<\/a> <\/em>is engaged by pushing down on the atomizer with the mouth. The <em>Omega <\/em>is similar, but you push down on the top of the mod with your finger to engage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/engaging-the-Copper-and-Omega.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1122\" title=\"engaging the Copper and Omega\" src=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/engaging-the-Copper-and-Omega.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"337\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/engaging-the-Copper-and-Omega.jpg 602w, http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/engaging-the-Copper-and-Omega-292x300.jpg 292w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 337px) 100vw, 337px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 30px;\">And that makes a nice segue to&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>feel <\/strong>of the switch. Some buttons are big and fat; others are small and almost pointed. The <em>GG Telescopic Storm with AVS<\/em> is <strong>$239<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shown below (and linked above) are some mods I never got around to mentioning previously.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Cisco-Laser-Indulgence-SparkPlug_3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1646\" title=\"Cisco-Laser-Indulgence-SparkPlug_3\" src=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Cisco-Laser-Indulgence-SparkPlug_3-247x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"247\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Cisco-Laser-Indulgence-SparkPlug_3-247x300.jpg 247w, http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Cisco-Laser-Indulgence-SparkPlug_3.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 247px) 100vw, 247px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Surprisingly perhaps, small size, high\/variable voltage, and features like juice feeding have relatively little impact on cost (any of those can be had for under $70) &#8230; <strong>unless <\/strong>you want the best of two to four of those in the same device (e.g., those models in the top two price brackets). <strong>High mAh<\/strong> has a greater impact (e.g., the least expensive 18650-based mods are the $80 Chuck and XHaler).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But the <em>most <\/em>significant factors impacting price are: <strong> <\/strong><strong>sophisticated engineering<\/strong> (e.g., as the shortest and thinnest mods for the batteries contained therein, the <em>Precious <\/em>and <em>Precise <\/em>are among the most expensive) and <strong>craftsmanship <\/strong>(e.g., the beautiful wooden <em>Ali&#8217;i <\/em>and <em>P Woodie Feedie<\/em> command higher price tags than the <em>WetBox <\/em>or <em>MrPuffer<\/em>).<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><a name=\"section_4\"><\/a><\/h4>\n<p>Overwhelmed? Understandable. These ain\u2019t no short, skinny 510 batteries you just screw onto your atomizer. <span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">[However, don\u2019t expect me to feel too sorry for you. You didn\u2019t have to research all this stuff!<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Facepalm\" src=\"http:\/\/www.e-cigarette-forum.com\/forum\/images\/smilies\/facepalm.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/>]<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you are overwhelmed and <em>turned off<\/em> \u2026 mods aren\u2019t for you (yet).<\/p>\n<p>But if you are overwhelmed and <strong>excited<\/strong> &#8230; step back and <em>reflect <\/em>on what <strong>you <\/strong>want in a mod at this stage of your vaping career. [And keep in mind your bank account.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Grin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.e-cigarette-forum.com\/forum\/images\/smilies\/biggrin.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/>]<\/p>\n<p>Which of those parameters (and to what degree) are most important to you? For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you want <em>good <\/em>mAh (but it doesn&#8217;t have to go on forever), 3.7V (because you plan to use LR attys), <em>fairly <\/em>small  (but not necessarily the smallest) size, in a tubular shape, don&#8217;t care  about juice feeding, and have up to $100 to spend? [And don&#8217;t forget  the batteries, charger, and atomizers (and, perhaps, adapter) you&#8217;ll  need to buy.]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Or do you want the best of the best (by whatever criteria  you care about) and have oodles of dollars (or pounds or euros) to  splurge?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You&#8217;ve seen here the models that fit the bill.
