[You know the caveats: I didn\u2019t pay for it, but my vaping review integrity remains intact.]<\/p>\n<p>Boy! Do I have mixed feelings about this one!<br \/>\n<em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><em>There was a big <acronym title=\"Personal Vaporizer\">PV<\/acronym>, who had a rhinestone light,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Right in the middle of her body.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Where she was good, she was <strong>very, very good<\/strong>,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>But where she was bad \u2026 <strong>mediocre<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\">[Apologies to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow]<\/p>\n<p>Lest you be turned off by that \u201cmediocre,\u201d let me hasten to clarify: If you care about throat hit and vapor, you <strong>must<\/strong> give consideration to this device. More about that in a moment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVGO\u201d is a name applied to PVs by more than one manufacturer, e.g., RoyalSmokers. <em>This<\/em> VGO (as well as the other VGO models Don carries) is made by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsbcigarette.com\/pid15958\/New+JSB-VGO%28801%29+with+Bar+Light+and+Large+Cartridge.htm\" target=\"_blank\">JSB<\/a><\/strong> (Jieshibao). It is the second fat batt to come out along the lines of  the penstyle, e.g., 801. The first (just a few weeks ago) was the Leo,  which has received several glowing reviews including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-cigarette-forum.com\/forum\/electronic-cigarette-reviews\/140129-leo-vapin-cape-wonderful-not-quite-perfect-pv.html\" target=\"_blank\">my own<\/a>. Because of that, many of my comparisons will be to the Leo.<\/p>\n<h2>Just the Facts, Ma\u2019am<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Jack Webb Dragnet\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/JackWebbDragnet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"234\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Like the Leo, the <strong>VGO-801<\/strong> uses a proprietary atomizer and  battery, which are incompatible with anything else. [Despite the digits  in the name, this is not a DSE801.]<\/p>\n<p>It is the same diameter as the eGO (a millimeter or two less than the Leo) and about <strong>160<\/strong> mm in length. [The 132 mm specified on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jsbcigarette.com\/pid15958\/New+JSB-VGO%28801%29+with+Bar+Light+and+Large+Cartridge.htm\" target=\"_blank\">JSB site<\/a> is <em>way<\/em> off. In fact, the VGO-801 is a quarter inch longer than the 153 mm  Leo.] The weight is approximately the same as the Leo (maybe even  slightly less) and only a bit more than my Elegant (which is the same  size as an eGO).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 in hand\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801inhand.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 900 mAh battery looks very much like the mega eGO battery (although I  don\u2019t have one to place up against it). The atomizer is the same length  as any penstyle <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym>, but is much  wider at the base, giving it that cone shape. [There is no separate cone  cover.] It takes a standard 801 cartridge \u2026 kind of (see further  below).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 - assembled and components\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801-assembledandcomponents.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"457\" height=\"216\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Both the battery and <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym> have subtle flame-shaped markings (influenced by the Inferno perhaps?): barely visible, at least on the black model.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"black VGO-801 onside\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/blackVGO-801onside.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"353\" height=\"82\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The two features touted by JSB are, to me, the least important:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 battery in hand - button and lights highlighted\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801batteryinhand-buttonandlightshighlighted.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"167\" height=\"378\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A      \u201cSimulated Diamond <em>[aka rhinestone]<\/em> Button design, reflecting the Noble      Qualities\u201d \ud83d\ude09 \u2013 if bling is your thing, this is where it is to be found on      the  VGO-801. As you would expect, the button lights up when pressed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 diamonds\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801diamonds.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"353\" height=\"134\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A      ring of six small lights at the base. When the button is pressed,  the      number of lights indicates the power remaining. [I would  describe three      lights lit as 450 mAh left, rather than \u201cshortage\u201d \u2026  and six lights as \u201cfully      charged.\u201d]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 power indicator lights\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801powerindicatorlights.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"327\" height=\"176\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Although offered in four different colors (body and rhinestone button), only the black unit with blue button is carried by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breezesmokes.com\/index.php?option=com_tienda&amp;view=products&amp;task=view&amp;id=207&amp;filter_category=7&amp;Itemid=67\" target=\"_blank\">BreezEsmokes<\/a> (who is the only U.S. supplier currently selling the VGO-801).  [Clarification: The rhinestone button is clear; it is the color of the  light which varies.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 four colors\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801fourcolors.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"414\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The complete kit, sold by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breezesmokes.com\/index.php?option=com_tienda&amp;view=products&amp;task=view&amp;id=207&amp;filter_category=7&amp;Itemid=67\" target=\"_blank\">BreezEsmokes<\/a> for $48, includes all the items shown here, i.e., two batteries and one  atomizer, USB charger, wall adapter, five cartridges \u2026 and a partridge  in a pear tree (I mean instruction manual).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"VGO-801 kit\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/VGO-801kit.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"401\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The battery is charged in the conventional manner by screwing the  atomizer end into the charger, rather than the base (ala the Leo\u2019s  passthrough style). Despite how it is listed on the JSB and BreezEsmokes  websites, the charger is not what I would call \u201cquick.\u201d [It fully  charges overnight, which is all I need.] Also there is no \u201catomizer  cover\u201d \u2026 it doesn\u2019t need one.<\/p>\n<p>BreezEsmokes does not yet stock replacement VGO-801 atomizers or batteries.<strong><strong>*<\/strong><\/strong> If this model takes off, I\u2019m sure that Don will.<\/p>\n<h2>Where she was <span style=\"color: #008000;\">good<\/span>\u2026<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"massive TH and vapor\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/massiveTHandvapor.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"457\" height=\"206\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><span style=\"color: green;\">throat hit<\/span><\/strong> on this thing is excellent \u2026 and the <strong><span style=\"color: green;\">vapor<\/span><\/strong> is massive! Very, very impressive! Both exceed the Leo or any other penstyle <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym> I\u2019ve ever used (including LR) \u2026 and rival that of LR 510 and 306 attys.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, I don\u2019t own a multimeter (and, like GrimmGreen,  wouldn\u2019t know how to use one if I did), so I can\u2019t tell you the battery  voltage or atomizer resistance. Assuming for the moment that the battery  is the same ~3.4V as all the other fat batts, this <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym> must be very low resistance \u2026 and designed in such a way to maximize vapor production. [Sound familiar, 510 users?]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other positives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It      is a <strong>nicely sculpted<\/strong> device. I like the fact that it doesn\u2019t need a      separate cone (or a protective endcap like the Leo) to look nice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>It feels <strong>good in my hand<\/strong>, just like the Leo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>It      has <strong>high mAh<\/strong>: 900 mAh (100 more than Leo) is enough for most of us      to get through the entire day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>That      <strong>band of lights<\/strong> at the bottom is not a bad idea. I look at it      occasionally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Unlike      the Leo, it does <strong>stand on end<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>It      is carried by an <strong><span style=\"color: green;\">excellent supplier<\/span><\/strong> with good prices, whom I enjoy dealing with!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Where she was <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">bad<\/span>\u2026<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"flavor bitter or meh\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/flavorbitterormeh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"401\" height=\"192\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not crazy about the <strong><span style=\"color: red;\">taste<\/span><\/strong>. After  several hits, it starts tasting somewhat bitter to me. If I drip  frequently, it\u2019s not too bad, but I just don\u2019t get the rich <em>flavor<\/em> from my juices that I\u2019m used to. It is not as <em>smooth<\/em> tasting as the Leo (or many penstyle attys).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other negatives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The      atomizer <strong>leaks<\/strong>. Since the battery is sealed, this is not a serious      problem, just a messy one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Most      penstyle cartridges, mouthpieces, or drip tips don\u2019t <strong>fit<\/strong> into the      <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym>. I hope I don\u2019t lose the one that came with the tester kit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>It      is a <strong>juice hog<\/strong>: I have to drip <em>frequently<\/em>. And, yes, I think      one would have to <em>drip<\/em> with this; a cartridge just doesn\u2019t deliver      the e-liquid effectively enough.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The      draw is a bit <strong>stiff<\/strong>, although I only notice it when switching from      another <acronym title=\"Personal Vaporizer\">PV<\/acronym>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Calling      that rhinestone button a \u201cdiamond\u201d (even a simulated one) is a <strong>joke<\/strong>.      It <em>functions<\/em> just fine (although I do prefer the Leo button).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If      the VGO-801 doesn\u2019t capture the attention of  the vaping community      (necessitating Don\u2019s stocking of atomizers  and\/or creating a bandwagon for      other suppliers to jump on)<strong>*<\/strong>, when my one <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym> gives up the ghost      (as they all do), my VGO-801 vaping days will be ended.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Sad\" src=\"http:\/\/www.e-cigarette-forum.com\/forum\/images\/smilies\/sad.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>On Balance<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"balanance scale\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/balanancescale.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Is it for <strong>me<\/strong>? Well, <em>yes<\/em> \u2026 sometimes. If I haven\u2019t vaped for awhile (or during my evening cocktail), those hard hits are <em>very<\/em> satisfying. And I sure do like that voluminous vapor. The VGO-801 will retain an appreciated place in my vaping arsenal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"cigar and brandy\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/cigarandbrandy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"294\" height=\"286\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But for my long, lingering vaping sessions (i.e., much of my vaping), give me my Leo (or EM 801 <acronym title=\"Atomizer\">atty<\/acronym> on my ProVape-1).<\/p>\n<p>Is it for <strong>you<\/strong>? That depends on what is most important to you. If it is <em>vapor<\/em> and\/or <em><acronym title=\"Throat Hit\">TH<\/acronym><\/em>: what are you waiting for? Go <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breezesmokes.com\/index.php?option=com_tienda&amp;view=products&amp;task=view&amp;id=207&amp;filter_category=7&amp;Itemid=67\" target=\"_blank\">buy one<\/a>! [Please do, so that suppliers will carry replacement attys for me to order.<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Smile\" src=\"http:\/\/www.e-cigarette-forum.com\/forum\/images\/smilies\/001_smile.gif\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/>]<strong><strong>*<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"vapor or TH then buy\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/VGO-801%20Review\/vapororTHthenbuy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"436\" height=\"220\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If it is a <em>smooth, rich vape<\/em> which brings out the flavor of the juice: you already bought a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breezesmokes.com\/index.php?option=com_tienda&amp;view=products&amp;task=view&amp;id=208&amp;filter_category=7&amp;Itemid=67\" target=\"_blank\">Leo<\/a>, right? Save your money for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breezesmokes.com\/index.php?option=com_tienda&amp;view=products&amp;filter_category=9:replacement-parts&amp;Itemid=68\" target=\"_blank\">Leo replacement parts<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breezesmokes.com\/index.php?option=com_tienda&amp;view=products&amp;filter_category=8:smoke-juice&amp;Itemid=69\" target=\"_blank\">e-liquid<\/a> (from BreezEsmokes or other fine suppliers).<\/p>\n<p>Of course, regardless of <acronym title=\"Throat Hit\">TH<\/acronym>\/vapor\/flavor preference, if you like stubby little PVs, why did you bother reading this review?
