Penstyles<\/h4>\n<p>If you want <strong>more puffs<\/strong> per battery charge than the minis or super-minis (and equal to the Kr8), <strong>good vapor, rich flavor, and solid throat hit<\/strong> \u2013 and you don&#8217;t mind a <strong>long <\/strong>e-cig (55% longer than a 100s analog) \u2013 consider the <strong>Penstyle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Penstyle - disassembled and assembled\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/WWV%20adds\/Penstyle-disassembledassembled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"438\" height=\"125\" \/><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">[photo courtesy of <a href=\"http:\/\/hubpages.com\/hub\/Electronic-Cigarettes-A-Primer\" target=\"_blank\">MNichopolis<\/a>]<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Because of its right flavor and throat hit, I (and many other veteran vapers) prefer the penstyle over any other category\/model. As I&#8217;ve stated elsewhere, I believe the reason there is not more <em>buzz <\/em>about the penstyle is that most vapers have never even <strong>tried <\/strong>it, because of the length. However, <strong>I <\/strong>think its long slender appearance is <em>elegant<\/em>. It looks kind of like an analog cigarette in an old-fashioned cigarette holder, such as used by FDR and Holly Golightly (although hers is <em>much <\/em>longer) &#8230; and by my avatar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"FDR and Holly Golightly\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/FDRandHollyGolightly.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"396\" height=\"184\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The cartridges are large and can hold a lot of juice. Their atomizers are<em> un<\/em>exposed; in fact, they&#8217;re at the bottom of long tubes. With two exceptions, these all have automatic batteries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"801 atty\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/801atty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"313\" height=\"253\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the exception of the Janty Kissbox, all models <em>look <\/em>the same on the outside. So I&#8217;ll just show various penstyle photos in this section.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 155 mm <strong>DSE801<\/strong> \/ <strong>RN4072<\/strong>: Two different manufacturers, but virtually identical and totally compatible. Like the 901, the 801 is the &#8220;tried and true.&#8221; Most current 801 atomizers are high-bridge; the 4072 atty is low-bridge (wicks better with carts). [I don&#8217;t care myself; I always drip.] Like the 901 and 510, many of the Mods are designed to work with the 801 (or compatible) atomizer. A <strong>manual<\/strong> 801 battery (compatible with all but the M201 penstyle atty) is available. As stated previously, I don&#8217;t like its implementation. [If I were to buy an 801 starter kit today, I would get it from <strong>EastMall<\/strong> \u2013 not because of price (remember those pesky shipping costs from China) \u2013 but because of the color choices &#8230; and their description: &#8220;Our DSE801 Atomisers have 4 holes and are a little different from others, the resistance inside the Atomiser is lower which ensures great vapor production.&#8221;]*<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">* Since I wrote that in early 2010, I <strong>have <\/strong>purchased the unique EastMall 801 (also available from <strong>Vapor Junction<\/strong> in the US for $35, in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vaporjunction.com\/store\/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=22&amp;products_id=163\" target=\"_blank\">red<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vaporjunction.com\/store\/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=22&amp;products_id=164\" target=\"_blank\">marble<\/a>). It is now one of my two <strong>favorites <\/strong>(of <em>all <\/em>e-cig atomizers). The attractive color options are secondary to the increased throat hit and vapor (owing to the lower resistance atty). [My <em>other <\/em>favorite is IkenVape&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/ikenvape192.corecommerce.com\/LR-Low-Resistance-Atomizers\/IKV-HV-LR-801-2-5-Semi-Atomizer-p95.html\" target=\"_blank\">2.5 ohm semi-LR 801 atomizer<\/a>, which I described toward the beginning of <a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/?page_id=533\" target=\"_blank\">Part IV<\/a>. It is not available as part of kit, so batteries must be purchased separately from other sources.]<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><em>I get no <strong>kick <\/strong>from five-ten.<br \/>\nIt is a vapor ma<strong>chine<\/strong>, yes I know,<br \/>\nBut <strong>throat <\/strong>hit and all kinds of <strong>fun<\/strong>:<br \/>\nOnly L<strong>R<\/strong> eight-oh-<strong>one<\/strong>!<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">RN4072 suppliers include: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mypvshop.com\/store\/electronic-cigarettes\/rn4072\/\" target=\"_blank\">myPVshop<\/a> ($43), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.luckecig.com\/Penstyle-Starter-Kit-Model-RN4072-L1K.htm\" target=\"_blank\">LuckEcig<\/a> ($50), and <a href=\"http:\/\/ecigarettecigar.com\/ecigshop\/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=9&amp;products_id=57\" target=\"_blank\">eCigaretteShop<\/a> ($50). Until researching details for this guide, I didn&#8217;t realize that it&#8217;s a different length, supposedly. I don&#8217;t have a BE112 batt, but the atty is the same size as my other penstyle attys. The atomizer is low-bridge; and I&#8217;ve read very good things about it, especially the cartridges. BE112 atomizers (but not kits) are carried by these U.S. suppliers: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.puresmoker.com\/product_p\/clsatombe112.htm&amp;Click=9312\" target=\"_blank\">Puresmoker<\/a> , <a href=\"http:\/\/www.liberty-flights.com\/product.asp?id=36\" target=\"_blank\">Liberty-Flights<\/a> [10% discount code: VGLF10], <a href=\"http:\/\/www.litecigusa.net\/BE112_Copper_Atomizer_p\/splugatom.htm\" target=\"_blank\">LiteCigUSA<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electroniccigarettesofhouston.com\/Be-112-Pen-Style-Atomizer-Be-112-Pen-Style-Atomizer.htm\" target=\"_blank\">ElixerLiquid<\/a>. Because of the limited availability of kits, I believe many current BE112 users  started with an 801 kit and purchased 112 attys later. There is no model-specific sub-forum dedicated to the BE112, but there are several posts you can search for.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first use (by western vapers, at least) of the <strong>Joye302 <\/strong>atomizer (not to be confused with the Joye 30<strong>6<\/strong> super-mini) was in the Janty Kissbox, described below. Although that product has declined in popularity, the <em>atty&#8217;s<\/em> popularity has been growing (and it continues to be sold as part of the popular <a href=\"http:\/\/heaven-gifts.com\/product-155.html\" target=\"_blank\">Joye\/Janty Stick<\/a> mod).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Woodgrain penstyle\" src=\"http:\/\/i562.photobucket.com\/albums\/ss67\/DonDaBoomVape\/woodgrainpenstyle.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"336\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The 302 atty has two very large large holes, instead of four small ones. In the first version of this guide, I almost omitted the 302. Hadn&#8217;t heard much about it, but I stumbled on an old ECF thread about it (that has had some recent posts), which commends the Joye302 (especially for its low-bridge atomizer). Since then there have been many more forum references to the 302 and I&#8217;ve tried it myself. Until I discovered the lower resistance 801 attys, it was my favorite, providing consistent performance and good flavor, but I now am spoiled by higher watts.* It is fully compatible with the 801, 4072, and 112. There is no model-specific sub-forum dedicated to it, but there are several posts you can search for.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\">* <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-cigarette-forum.com\/forum\/members\/4057\/hellen-a-handbasket.html\" target=\"_blank\">Hellen A. Handbasket<\/a> just made me aware that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.healthcabin.net\/joye302-low-resistance-atomizer-in-2-colors-product-7698.html\" target=\"_blank\">HealthCabin <\/a>now sells an <strong>LR<\/strong> 302 atomizer. I&#8217;ve not yet tried it, but (at 1.5 ohms), I suspect that it will be <em>too<\/em> powerful (9-11 watts on a 3.7V battery) for my tastes. I always thought it was basically an 801 with a <strong>manual <\/strong>(<em>or<\/em> automatic) switch mechanism inserted between the atomizer and battery. As you can see from the photo below, that is correct in concept, but at 123 mm, there&#8217;s no way that is an 801-length battery. [Actually, I suspect that the Kissbox <em>without <\/em>switch mechanism may be 123 mm, resulting in a total length similar to other penstyles.] At almost twice the price of any of the above, I don&#8217;t see the point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Janty-Kissbox.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-876\" title=\"Janty Kissbox\" src=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Janty-Kissbox.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Janty-Kissbox.jpg 400w, http:\/\/vapingguides.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/Janty-Kissbox-300x195.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At the same length as most penstyles is the M201, about which I&#8217;ve read very positive comments on ECF (e.g., better throat hit). [I was very impressed with the M201 during the two separate three-day occasions I used one. Really quite similar to my experience with the Joye302 atty. The only problem was the each died at the end of that period. Probably &#8220;lemons,&#8221; so don&#8217;t let that extremely small sample stop you from trying it out. Worst case, you&#8217;re out an atty.
