Safety of the Electronic Cigarette

Another study, this one done in Japan, confirms the safety and effectiveness of electronic cigarettes.  The study was completed with quite a small number of participants and for a relatively short amount of time, but the findings were very positive.  No adverse effects were noted and “the daily consumption of tobacco cigarettes reduced significantly.”  Read the full study here – Safety Assessment of Electronic Cigarette in Smokers.

FDA to Regulate Ecigs as Tobacco Products

The FDA has apparently agreed to comply with court rulings and regulate electronic cigarettes as tobacco products.  Check out the ABC news story here.  This is good news for vapers.  If we are forced to be subject to some sort of regulation, which we inevitably will be, classifying ecigs as tobacco products is the lesser of two evils.  The alternative of regulating the personal vaporizer as a drug delivery device would force most vendors to close their doors.  It remains to be seen just how the FDA hopes to control the industry, but this is a good start.  Be sure to check out the last line of the article, “But some public health experts say the level of those carcinogens was comparable to those found in nicotine replacement therapy, because the nicotine in all of the products is extracted from tobacco.”  Intelligent commentary for a change.

eGo-B, An Ecig with a Pen Clip!

I just ordered an eGo-B from My Freedom Smokes and I’m anxious to see what it’s like.  I use an eGO on a daily basis and a pen clip could make it that much more convenient.  It doesn’t appear to be tank equipped, but is an 1100mAh battery, so I’m sure it will find a place in my arsenal.  Check back near the end of the week for a review.

7 Biggest Electronic Cigarette Myths

Here’s a great article by Kristin Noll-Marsh examining some of the biggest myths regarding the electronic cigarette.  It’s worth a read if you’ve encountered the misinformation that is circulating or know someone who has.  Nice work, Kristin.

The Spark Plug is a Bargain!

The Spark Plug personal vaporizer is one of the least complex devices on the market.  No electronics or flashy electronics, just a solid, quality device that engages with the push of the button.  I have always been impressed with the quality and now they are offering colors beyond the standard aluminum.  But the most amazing news is that a full kit is now only $29.99! That’s a Sparkplug, two 16340 batteries, charger and even a bottle of e-liquid for less than $35! This would make a great first mod or a perfect backup device for that price.

E-liquid calculators

I tried the eJuice Me Up calculator tonight and it works pretty well.  There are quite a few fields to fill in to get everything working, like PG and VG percentages for each flavor and zeros in every box that you’re not using.  Once you have it configured, however, the settings can be saved in a default file for next time.  I like the fact that each recipe can be saved as it’s own file and that ml, drops and percentages are all displayed for each ingredient.  I’m not sure if this is going to take the place of Scubabatdan’s great Excel sheet for me, but it is a nice program.  A pretty comprehensive list of ejuice calculators can be found on ECF.  Happy mixing!

Madvapes Variable Voltage Regulator Board Kit

My first variable voltage box mod

Madvapes now has a variable voltage regulator board kit that makes creating your own variable voltage box mod a breeze.   Their ICs and Regulators section now has not only 5v regulators, but a complete regulator assembly that includes the board, regulator and resistors.  Just add a box, switch, connector and batteries of your choice and you’ve got everything you need to create your own variable voltage mod.  Even with a charger included, it’s a variable voltage electronic cigarette for less than $30.  Gotta love that!

Rush Limbaugh isn’t all wrong!

Although I don’t agree with everything Rush Limbaugh says, we certainly see eye to eye on the subject of electronic cigarettes. He has been often heard touting the virtues of the ecig and has mentioned Volcano in particular. With the number of listeners he has, this is good exposure and Volcano is a great place for smokers considering their first electronic cigarette. Their newest Magma-T kit with its M-Pack charging case and tank style cartridges would be a near perfect first ecig.

EVcigarettes cartomizers

I just received some Joye cartomizers from EVcigarettes and am really enjoying them. These are nice soft cap cartomizers that are easy to fill. I’m getting great flavor from them right from the start. The 3.0 ohm version at 4.5 volts is fantastic. Between that and a great looking titanium Riva, I am enjoying my vape tonight.

Madvapes Now Has The E-Power In Stock

This may not be the most exciting new variation on the personal vaporizer, but it does seem like a good idea. Madvapes is now carrying the E-Power e-cigarette, an eGo lookalike from SmokTech that the the folks at Madvapes were apparently instrumental in designing. Essentially, this electronic cigarette is quite similar to an eGo, but utilizes less expensive 14650 1050mAh batteries. See the full review here.
