I finally found a clearomizer that I really like. The Kangertech EVOD BCC delivers a great combination of throat hit and flavor that I haven’t found in other clearomizers. In addition, I have not had a single burnt hit from it. The performance is probably due to the fact that it is a bottom coil arrangement where the short wicks stay more saturated at the bottom of the tank. Filling is a little on the difficult side, but other than that, this thing is great. Stay tuned for the full review.
CNBC: E-Cigarettes: Escaping the Smoke
There’s a good article on CNBC today entitled E-Cigarettes: Escaping the Smoke. Much of it is devoted to an interview with V2 Cigs CEO Andries Verleur, and he is given the opportunity to say that while ecigs are not perfect, they really are a great alternative to smoking. It’s a generally positive article and that’s nice to see on a mainstream news site.
Electronic Cigarettes Seem To Help… Fox News
In a great positive article on Fox News, Dr. Keith Ablow echos what we’ve all been saying for quite some time, that electronic cigarettes really are effective. It’s good to hear a doctor say that he is recommending electronic cigarettes to his patients who smoke and it’s always great to see a positive article in main stream media!

Just a reminder that the deadline for the submission of comments to the FDA is January 16th, 2013. CASAA has the link to the comments page as well as a great list of suggestions for what to include in comments. Don’t let the opportunity to add your electronic cigarette success story pass by!
Goodejuice Commercial Tobacco
A couple of weeks ago I was asked whatever happened to the Goodebacco flavor at Goodejuice. It turns out that the flavor has been discontinued due to the similarity to another Goodejuice flavor, Commercial Tobacco. The guys at Goodejuice sent me a sample to try, and it does taste a lot like the Goodebacco used to. That is to say that it has a deep, rich tobacco flavor, with just a hint of sweetness. To me there seems to be an undertone of a maple syrup flavor, but it is not overwhelming by any means. The exhale is wonderful and smells a lot like tobacco smoke. At $12.99 for a 30ml bottle, this is another example of a great value from Goodejuice.
Just updated the eVic!
After only a week with the eVic, I just downloaded a new ROM and flashed it to the device via USB. Pretty impressive stuff! The update fixed one of my primary complaints with the device, the fact that it did not function in a true variable power mode. In version 1.0 of the software, the wattage could be set, but did not change when a new atomizer was attached. Version 1.1 adds a switch in the menu to actually change to variable power mode so that voltage is automatically adjusted to match resistance.
Being able to update the programming is fantastic. Think of all the devices that have had minor enhancements that make us want to buy the second or third version of a device. Joyetech just made it possible to avoid some of that pain.
A Great Cartomizer, the 801 Fusion
Last year Don gave us a great review of the 801 Fusion cartomizer from Ikenvape. He loved them, but I never got around to trying them… until now. I recently picked up a few to try out and have been using one for the past week on a VMAX with a 801-510 adapter. Isaac has mentioned that he is working on a 510 threaded version of the Fusion, but for now the adapter works perfectly.
All I have to say is that these are probably the best cartomizers I’ve tried. The flavor and vapor production are excellent and they perform fantastic at a wide range of voltages. The 2.6ohm Fusion performs well at around 4 volts, but doesn’t taste harsh or burnt at 5 volts either. Just a lot warmer. They don’t seem real susceptible to burning dry, as flavor seems to drop off long before they are dry. Running them at higher voltages does consume a lot of e-liquid, though, so I find myself topping off rather frequently with about 10 drops.
Madvapes Veteran’s Day discount
Madvapes has a great 10% discount going on this weekend. They have also announced some lower prices on the ZMAX line. Stainless, Chrome and Gunmetal versions are now available starting at only $90.99. That’s $81.89 with the discount! No coupon code is needed and the discount is computed in the shopping cart.
The launch of the American E-liquid Manufacturers’ Standards Association
The American E-liquid Manufacturers’ Standards Association has launched. The association’s mission statement states that “We promise to work for preserving and promoting Tobacco Harm Reduction through the process of volunteer self-regulation of e-liquid manufacturing. We are committed to providing consumers with a greater confidence in our members’ products.” This type of self-regulation should indeed be a good thing for both the industry and the consumer. In addition, the AEMSA hopes to work toward government acceptance of reasonable standards for the production of e-liquid, which would eliminate the only really viable argument concerning e-cig use. We hope to see this association move forward.
Madvapes AcryliMax
Madvapes has continued the tradition of modding, this time by taking the internals of the impressive new ZMAX and placing them in an attractive acrylic tube. Just like hot-rodding, the AcryliMax is a matter of taking a powerful engine and clothing it in a custom body. Even if there are limits to the technology that can be packed into an advanced personal vaporizer (APV), Madvapes is showing that no such limits exist when it comes to appearance.
The AcryliMax is currently available in red and purple, but quantities appear to be limited. I’m ordering mine today, so stayed tuned for a review next week!
